Turkish Airlines wins approval for rapid expansion into Australian airspace
Australia's government has approved Turkish Airlines to ramp up their operations to the country, by approving a huge increase in the number of weekly flights allowed from Turkey.
Previously, Turkish Airlines were only permitted to fly 7 flights a week to Australia, with this approval allowing 21 flights a week, with immediate effect. This will increase to 35 a week from the northern 2025-26 winter period. Turkish Airlines are expected to cover Australia's four primary hubs: Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth & Sydney.
The flights are expected to initially be flown in Boeing 787-9 aircraft, but with the recent Airbus order being signed, this is likely to change over the coming months.
Turkish Airlines are rapidly growing and their stock [IST: THYAO] currently sits at an incredible 71.46% increase compared with the year before.
