Ryanair flight filled with smoke prior to takeoff

A Ryanair operated Buzz* flight out of Stockholm Arlanda was forced to perform an emergency evacuation on Sunday, 10th December 2023, due to smoke in the cabin.

The pilots had requested push and start of their 737 MAX, and began their pre taxi checks when smoke began billowing into the cabin, with passengers shouting to the cabin crew to open the doors. Fire crews attended the 737 MAX promptly to aid the evacuation of the jet, prompting the temporary closure of Stockholm Arlanda airport.

All passengers evacuated safely and there were no reported injuries.

The aircraft has been grounded whilst it is reviewed by engineers. The flight was intended for Krakow in Poland and all passengers were put on an alternative flight and arrived at their destination safely.
